IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT DANGEROUS DRUGS CIRCULATING

There has been a rise in Fatal and Near-Fatal Overdoses linked to Heroin supply across Doncaster Borough in November and December 2023 Testing of substances has shown the presence of synthetic opioids from the Nitazenes family. Nitazenes can be at least as strong as fentanyl and can be hundreds of times more potent than Heroin. They are known to have led to accidental overdoses and deaths of people in several areas across the UK in the last few weeks.

If Nizatenes are present in Doncaster, they are likely to be present in Sheffield so anyone using heroin or at risk, needs to be very careful.

o AVOID USING ALONE, USE WITH TRUSTED FRIENDS Remember: You have no guarantee of the content of what you are taking

o Naloxone saves lives so if in doubt- seek medical advice as soon as you can if you or a friend is affected.

o Don’t be afraid to seek help if you are worried about your drug use from your GP or other health worker and remember to call 999 in an emergency
