Cancer Screening

Dear patients

There are several screening for cancer programmes available to you. These are:

Cervical screening- Smear test

Breast screening

Bowel cancer screening

Lung cancer screening coming very shortly.

It is thought that 50% of us will get cancer at some point in our lives. The point of screening is to catch any cancers as early as possible before people have any symptoms as we know that cancers caught early do much better than if you wait until you are unwell. Treatments are getting better all the time which is good news!

We are lucky in England that these tests are free and locally available.

Most of our patients take up the offer but we would love this to be 100% as these programmes save lives!
